What is December Tea?

December Tea started in winter 2015 as a mere idea. I sat at my job, nursing the last of my holiday blend tea, waiting for the actual holidays to approach. Mostly because it meant I would have two weeks off and desperately needed to get away. It was a title written hastily in my notebook and then forgotten about. Fast forward to summer 2016: where I was once again sitting at my job (but at a new desk this time), thinking about how much I longed to be out traveling, reading, and writing, rather than sitting there answering the phone. I've been involved with blogs since the livejournal days, and have been writing in journals for even longer, yet I've drifted away from the format over the years. Favoring script writing and jotting down ideas or lines in the margins of notebooks. Yet the desire to return to a place of creativity and risk taking once again took over, and thus, December Tea was born.

Who is the writer?

Lauren Bailey is a writer living in Los Angeles. She holds an MFA in Writing for Screen and Television from USC's School of Cinematic Arts. She's the recipient of the Jack Nicholson Scholarship for Excellence in Writing, in which her award winning script explored the idea of memory. Previously, Lauren made 16mm and super-8mm films (sometimes she still does), and studied literature. She's an advocate for women's rights, makes a mean cup of tea, and thinks the fall is the best season (though spring is a close second). She writes about books, tea, women’s stories, and flowers.
